The Self-Employment Benefit Program is a 40 week program. During that time, we will work with you through a formal training phase of four to six weeks to assist you in refining your ideas and in writing a comprehensive business plan that reflects your market opportunities and how you will address them. You will also define your business processes, develop a costing model, establish advertising and promotional strategies, and a cash flow projection for the start up phase of your business. The classroom component delivers a wide variety of business related topics such as; PST/GST, forms of ownership, business registration, insurance, and regulatory issues and self assessment techniques to name a few.
At the end of the formal training period, each SEB client will have completed their business plan and developed an action plan to implement their business strategies.
The remaining 34 weeks of the program are devoted to getting your business up and running and moving towards independence through self employment. During this period, SEB clients are provided with regular follow-up business counseling. This mentoring is designed to provide ongoing support through the critical startup and development phase by identifying risks and opportunities that present themselves and setting out goals and strategies to address them.
For eligible participants in the SEB program, financial support from HRDC may extend for the full term of the program.
To register for a session or obtain further information, please call the SEB Program Coordinator at 705-328-0261, Extension 23, or email to seb@klcfdc.com.com. |
