One of the KLCFDC objectives is to provide access to relevant information for individuals and businesses throughout the City of Kawartha Lakes.

As part of the Canada Ontario Business Service Centre (COBSC) regional access program, we offer an extensive collection of reference materials. Our library includes a variety of self-help and business start-up books on topics ranging from day care to mail order to catering and coffee shops.

Our reference materials and Internet- enabled computers-including those provided by the Community Access Program have information on items for your business including Canadian trade shows and exhibitions and the Canadian Franchise Guide, for example. In addition, you can find the market research you need to know and learn how to develop a comprehensive business plan. You can also find information on the Internet itself, including facts about doing business on the Internet and Cyber Law.

There are guidebooks on developing a successful Import or Export business in Canada, as well as lists of people and organizations to contact. Finally, we have a number of recent directories including the Ontario Business Directory, the Small Business SourceBook, Canadian Trade Index and Scott's Directory of Ontario Manufacturers.

Beyond this, you may be interested in other government programs that could provide support to your business or community-based initiative. And while we cannot guarantee that all of the programs listed will be active when you look to gain more information and possibly apply, we do make every effort to be current and up-to-date with what is available. Our self-help, walk in resource library at the Kent Place Mall, is available, free of charge, for your use from Monday to Friday, 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.
