Programs and Services for Ontario Farmers – FACTSHEET

Communities in Transition
A program that lets communities and regions apply at any time for help developing a strategy for their economic growth. Staff in the Communities in Transition Office is available to work one-on-one with community representatives to review specific challenges and opportunities and advise on project proposals.
Eastern Ontario Development Fund
If you have a great idea that will grow your business-or your local economy- and you're located in Eastern Ontario, you may be eligible for funding assistance from the Eastern Ontario Development Fund (EODF). The $80 million Province of Ontario fund is targeted to businesses and economic developers. The program supports projects that create and retain jobs, encourages the introduction of new technologies, pursues growth in new markets and contributes to the diversification of the economy of Eastern Ontario.

Economic Development Initiative
This Initiative supports business and economic development activities that encourage sustainable growth in southern Ontario's Francophone communities in two priority areas: 1) Community Strategic Planning; 2) Business and Economic Development.
Eastern Ontario Development Program
EODP is a $10 million, annual, short-term contribution aimed at addressing socio-economic challenges in Eastern Ontario, investing in community economic development, small business growth and job creation.
The Program is supported and managed by FedDev Ontario and is delivered by the 15 local Community Futures Development Corporations (EO CFDCs) in Eastern Ontario. While announced in the February 2011 budget, programming details are still to be confirmed.

Graduate Enterprise Internship
The Graduate Enterprise Internship provides financial support to eligible not-for-profit organizations and post-secondary institutions in southern Ontario to arrange internships with structured mentoring opportunities for graduate students and recent graduates of undergraduate programs in science, technology, engineering and mathematics with small- and medium-sized companies in southern Ontario.
Innovation Demonstration Fund
The Innovation Demonstration Fund (IDF) is a funding program administered by the Ministry of Research and Innovation that focuses on the commercialization and initial technical demonstration of globally competitive, innovative Green technologies, processes and/or products.
The objective of the IDF is to help companies in their efforts to commercialize innovative technologies in Ontario by mitigating the risk of projects with significant pilot-scale technical hurdles. The IDF is not aimed at routine engineering, upgrading, or improvements to existing processes, designs or products.
Investing in Business Innovation
Investing in Business Innovation provides funding to boost private sector investment in start-up businesses to accelerate the development of new products, processes and practices and bring them to market. Funding is also available for angel investor networks and their associations to attract new investment and support the growth of angel investment funds.
NRC Industrial Research Assistance Program
The National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC-IRAP) is a federal program that supports small and medium-sized enterprises' innovation in Canada. They support small and medium-sized enterprises grow stronger, grow faster and grow bigger through innovation and technology.
Technology Development Program
The Technology Development Program provides financial support to encourage research and innovation organizations, the private sector, post-secondary institutions and not-for-profit organizations to work together to accelerate the development of large-scale, advanced technologies that will result in new market opportunities for southern Ontario businesses.
The Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) Tax Incentive Program
The SR&ED program is a federal tax incentive program, administered by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) that encourages Canadian businesses of all sizes, and in all sectors to conduct research and development (R&D) in Canada. It is the largest single source of federal government support for industrial R&D. The SR&ED program gives claimants cash refunds and/or tax credits for their expenditures on eligible R&D work done in Canada.

The Canada Book Fund provides financial assistance for your Canadian book publishing business, ensuring access to a diverse range of Canadian-authored books in Canada and abroad. The program has two main supports: 1) Support for Publishers; 2) Support for Organizations.
